Collaborative Art: "The Collective" Lotus Seeds

Dear Laura,

For our newest addition to our mail art project "The Collective", I created this drawing in response to your latest piece of art.  While sometimes I respond to pieces in the box from weeks ago or a combination of them together, this piece is a direct link to this one: I have been thinking about the lotus off and on for years because it is a common symbol in and around yoga.

The buddhists think of the lotus as "purity of the body, speech, and mind while rooted in the mud. The flower blossoms on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire".

What a wonderful concept to remember on a daily basis and reminds me of our work on mindfulness. I am looking forward to receiving your next piece in the mail!

Tina
