Mindfulness: Laura's "One Little Word" 2017
Dear Friends,
In 2011 we started a tradition of picking a word that would guide us through the year. This idea was inspired by Ali Edwards "One Little Word" project. For this month's "Mindfulness" series we will share two posts: One featuring Laura's One Little Word (today) and the other Tina's One Little Word (tomorrow).
Check out our "one little word" through the years:

Laura's "One Little Word" for 2017
Dear Tina,
My "one little word" last year was TEND and it served me well. At this time last year, I was in the process of moving and setting up my new studio. As I tended to my life I let go of a lot of things that were no longer serving me. Marie Condo's book became a field guide for letting go of anything that didn't bring me joy which was liberating!
Another book I loved was Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life by Karen Rauch Carter which helped me Feng Shui my house. I had so much fun rearranging things in my home and giving them fresh life. I feel like there is a beautiful energy to it.
I also spent time tending to both my garden and my spirit. In the process, I developed a love for creating little flower posies and photographing them. These little posies became not only an inspiration for my paintings, but a part of my studio practice and a form of meditation.
At the time I didn't know why I was making them and now know it was my spirit guiding me. I want to trust and honor this kind of guidance more. Deep down I believe there is a natural flow and harmony to life when we are in tune with our heart's calling. This is why I chose allow for my "one little word" this year.
ALLOW:
to permit something to happen or to exist, to offer a possibility
I am ready to allow more into my life: inner guidance, flow, goodness, joy, fun, love, connection, growth, clarity, freedom, abundance, good health, co-creation, well-being, serendipity, alignment, creation, and anything else that comes my way. I love this word SO much! It feels easy, kind, and gentle.
What is your word for the year?
