Open Studio 2014: behind the scenes sneak peek

PicMonkey Collage.WEB

Hello Sweet T,

How are you? I started to write you a whole slew of times but when I finally sat down to finish my thoughts, they were a jumble, sending me off in too many directions (hard to believe I know! ha!). Too much going on in this head of mine so I will just share a little of my thought process in getting ready for my Open Studio this weekend as that is where my heart is.

I have spent many late nights in the studio working with Sue from The Collected Cottage (& a very helpful visit from Annie) getting ready. The Modern Vintage styling we are creating has 'SO BIG!

I don't quite know why I decided to take on this monumental challenge right now but it is consuming me and making my heart glow. I feel like we are worker bees doing everything out of love and purpose. Many late nights in the studio have left me exhausted, yet invigorated and gratified.

I want the studio to feel like a gift to everyone who enters and hope they feel welcomed, loved and inspired. Sue is an amazing stylist with a similar aesthetic as me. Honestly, it is hard for me to not buy all of her cute vintage finds. Each item is a unique treasure, thoughtfully collected and curated. Many of the items have been found on our Brimfield excursions which makes them even more special. You would love them all too!

Maria & Dora are also gussying up their studio space with new work and special things to woo you with! I am visualizing a successful Open Studio for all of us with a beautiful presentation of our work.

I also wrote my very first Laura Gaffke Art Newsletter with Annie's design help. As you know I have been saying I would do this for like ev-a and finally did! I think it came out adorable if I do say so myself! :)

I have been mulling over all of your BIG questions and will process and share them with you  after my big event. Lots of big picture things to consider for the future isn't there? I believe you are right about why our collaboration has sustained itself for so long. We do have a mutual respect and understanding of how our lives unfold which I too am ever so grateful for. I will write more about my ReVision 118 when I have the space in my head to process where I left off. That is all for now!
