Book Exchange: Values (Laura)

Dear Tina,

I love how you marked the beginning of the new year with such beautiful intentions in your last painting.

You asked me about resolutions and I actually don’t make them either. I do, however, reflect on the past year and set intentions for myself. I remind myself of my core values and check in with myself to see if I’m living in alignment with them, noting where I can improve.

I also like to choose a “word of the year” which is simply a guiding word to help me be more intentional in my life. It’s something that feels expansive and challenges me to grow. I find having a guiding word helps me make better decisions and allows me to focus on what I’m wanting more of in my life. After all, we only have “this one precious life,” right?

I too like to assess where I’m at in August. I think being a teacher for so many years and having my birthday in August is the perfect mid-point for me.

For this painting, I used your circle as a starting point to reflect on some of my values. The gold polka dots represent my intentions and all the tiny steps I will need to take to make them happen.

We’ve shared our “words of the year” together in the past. I wondered if you chose a word for the year and how you felt about them at this point in your life.

Big love your way…

💞Laura
