Glass Sculpture, Gardens, & the Biltmore

Hello Friends!

We put together a short video of what we saw at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina a few weeks back. The artist, Dale Chihuly, researched the grounds and developed multiple glass installations throughout the gardens, inside, and outside the Biltmore mansion.  If you can go see the work, it is well worth the price of admission.  If you can't, perhaps this video will be a good introduction to one of the most intriguing artists of our time.

We spent the entire day there walking the garden trails, taking a tour of the Vanderbilt's massive mansion, driving the long nature-lined roads, and visiting the winery.  We didn't even see all of it!

Follow THIS LINK to see a video of Chihuly creating his glass sculpture and more information about the Biltmore Estate.

“Since I was a little boy I always loved glass... One night, I melted some glass... and blew a bubble... Since that moment I have spent my life as an explorer searching for new ways to use glass and glassblowing to make forms and colors and installations that no one has ever created before...”

–Dale Chihuly

Enjoy!
