Inspiration: Aurora Robson

We often talk about other artists who are inspiring. Aurora Robson is one of those artists that we have talked about and know that our readers would appreciate.
In this video, she explains how her work went from painting, to sculpture, to activism about plastics in our environment.
PLASTIC! Yikes, we have to do something about this.
Perhaps awareness is the first step.
Americans produce and dispose of the most plastic on the planet. Aurora, like so many artists, is creating work that invites conversation. Tina attended her talk at the South Carolina Aquarium and saw her art at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art in the exhibit "Sea Change".
Aurora said during this talk that there is a "misplaced abundance" of plastic. Her call is to use this post-consumer plastic to build and invent. We like her term "interrupting the waste stream". Otherwise, much of this plastic we are using ends up in our oceans, breaking down into smaller pieces (photo-degrade rather than bio-degrades), eaten by birds and sea life, which then spreads and enters into human bodies. Sounds like karma! Transformation is her theme in the work and we hope this video inspires you as much as it has for us.
