Spiritual & Physical Beauty: ReVision 120 (in progress w/laura)

Dear Tina,

The photo of your sago palm releasing it's new layer of fronds in your Vision 120 was gorgeous! I watched each of the videos you posted and have to say I was drawn to the symbolism of the spirals in the videos more than the math aspect of them. As you know I have more of a Jimmy Buffett "Math Sucks" mentality but of course appreciate things like the great pyramids and the math behind them. I would just rather look at them in awe and breathe in their beauty like I do the flowers in my garden.

Researching the spiral made me take a closer look at my garden, paying close attention to how each of my flowers unfurled. Nature is amazing! I have learned that spirals are a symbol of change, something I try to accept but isn't always easy. I have resistance to change but deep down believe our lives unfurl the way they were meant to and that there are lessons and growth that come with change. Watching the life cycle of my garden reminds me of this.

The old dies away so the new can come forth.

For this ReVision I have been thinking about life and the "divine order" of nature and life and experimenting with this idea in my paintings. I am intrigued by the natural, tangible beauty I can see in a new flower blossom and the abstractness and indescribable emotion of what I feel. I am not sure where it is leading me but feel that I am being "led" or guided in this direction.  p.s. I really loved the video of the Spiral Jetty and seeing art in the natural world as opposed to a museum.  It's mysterious how it is not always visible. I also love how it is a labyrinth. I have always loved labyrinths. Have you ever walked one?
