Hello Tina & friends~
Have I told you about the upcoming show I will be in with the Stonington Printmaker’s Society? The show opens April 6th at the Cate Charles Gallery which happens to be one of my VERY favorite galleries. I AM SO EXCITED!!! I invite you to save the date and stop on in between 5 & 8pm (the show runs for the month of April in case you can’t make it for the opening reception).
Although I consider myself more of a painter than a printmaker I love being a part of this amazing group. They are kind, thoughtful, welcoming, innovative and diverse which pushes me and allows me to grow and stretch in unexpected ways. That being said I always feel like it takes me awhile to get my “groove” on with printmaking and I have been trying to figure out why. I think it’s partly because I have to plan so much as everything prints backwards and my brain has trouble with this. I have also tried to not veer too far off course from my regular studio work and have tried to integrate some of my mixed media techniques with my prints.
Here are a few examples:

Although I don’t know exactly where these new blocks will lead me I have ideas brewing and experiments in the works. I will let you know how it turns out. Wish me luck!
love, Laura
