Let us tell you a bit about how we created these pieces of art…..

Laura: “I started working on small, postcard sized paintings when I returned from my trip to Italy not knowing exactly where they would lead me. I let the colors of my magical trip lead me into the work. While painting the phrases ‘listen for guidance’ and ‘trust’ filled my head so I decided to include them in the work using an ink pen, which was is new tool for me. I sent them off to Tina, not knowing how they would end up. She worried I would be upset that she cut them all up, but I just love them. If you look closely you can find my messages, almost like a hidden treasure.”

Tina: “When I received Laura’s postcard size paintings in the mail, I spread them out on my table and observed them for a few weeks. The direction I wanted to take them in did not come right away, so I had to listen for awhile. I began thinking about how Laura created a stencil of a woman in some of her art and how that might apply to us by creating a stencil of the two women in our banner. These two women have become a sort of logo for us that speaks to our friendship, enjoyment of the day, and collaboration. I started to tear her paintings (I was not sure she would like this), arrange the pieces, and add the shape/stencil of the two women. For our next collaboration, I would like to send Laura some postcard-size art I have created and see what she comes up with. Are you ready to start ripping, painting, and altering Laura?”
