Thank you Kathy Johnson for nominating us for the Liebster blog award! In researching this blog award a bit, we found out that it is a collaborative effort of showcasing up-and-coming blogs. Sort of like a chain letter. This phenomenon seems relatively new, happening within the past year. Several winners speculated that “liebster” points to Germany. English equivalents of the word “liebster” are darling, beloved, sweetheart, etc. At any rate, we really like this collaborative effort to share great blogs with one another. So, here are the rules:
To accept the award you must do a few things:
- Thank the person that nominated you on your blog and link back to them.
- Nominate up to 5 other blogs for the award.
- Let them know via comment on their blog
- Post the award on your blog
Now it is our chance to ‘Liebsterize’ five other blogs. Here are some of our favorites:
Marlene White: Marlene when to Goddard College with us and has since developed an active and inspiring art practice. Plus, she is a new MOM! Congrats! Marlene has a unique process that incorporates painting and video.
“As an artist, I am very interested in the evolutionary process of each of my paintings. I create my paintings in the studio with the company of my video camera, recording my painting process from start to finish using stop motion techniques. I am fascinated with the idea of watching the dance of my own mark making, seeing each piece come to life. The interweaving of performance, time-based medium, and the act of painting has proven to me that a painting is more than an object to hang on a wall. Painting is itself a real, living, evolving entity.” ~ Marlene
Cassie Premo Steele: Cassie is a friend of ours and an incredibly talented writer. She interviewed us on Blog Talk Radio which you can listen to on the right hand sidebar –>
She has a new book of poetry fresh off the presses for April 2012- THE POMEGRANATE PAPERS, poems about mothering & creativity from Unbound Content. We will be picking up our copy asap!

She is not only a prolific and established painter but works in almost every other media seamlessly. Michelle follows her curiosity and constantly has innovative new work to share. We wonder when she sleeps! Here is a snippet from her artist statement—>
“The older I get the more I let the art be about living in the moment. I find I am more of a mixed media artist using fabric, paper, yarn and found items to create a tactile experience. I have been learning to sew and crochet using these skills in landscapes and sky-scapes.
Louise Gale: Louise is the creator of the FUN Color Challenge we have been participating in. She is an artist and life coach who lives her passion daily, sharing of herself and offering resources and tools to inspire your life. You can always find something exciting and new on her blog!
