Grooving in Providence

The “girls” and I at Jackie’s tent. (Sarah, Millie, Sue, Michelle, Jackie & yours truly)

Hello friends!

I spent yesterday with some good friends in Providence RI for the Providence Art Festival. It was fun catching up over coffee on our drive into “the city” as we anticipated the day. I had heard about the Festival from our friend jazzy Jackie who has exhibited her work there for the past few years. Her business is called, Luniac Style which fosters an opulent array of funky hair fascinators, earrings, rings, and other swanky goodness. Her new feather earrings and cupcake collection are FUN new additions! We are “posing” in front of her tent in the picture above.

I loved the way this artist displayed her art at this booth.

I am always on the lookout for well laid out displays for  inspiration. Although I haven’t done a show like this myself it is something I have been considering for some time. Jyll Ethier Mullen of “sickfeet” did a wonderful job catching my eye with her colorful display of prints. She had a nice variety of original paintings, giclee prints, framed artwork, cards and other wonderfulness in a variety of pricepoints. I also enjoyed hijacked ceramics funky bird plaque’s and Karen Malcom’s found object and mixed media work.

It is SO FUN being in a city with live art. These brave Hope High School students spent the day performing little skits of their work up and down the street with the goal of raising money to support their dream of performing in England and Scotland (to make a donation call: 401.456.9161). We ended our day at Tazza Caffe where we indulged in great food, conversation and mojitos~YUM! Today I am off to Kathy’s for tea in the garden. I can hardly wait! Kathy is not only a brilliant artist but shares my passion for gardening. I cannot wait to see her garden in bloom! How many of you like to garden? Do you have a favorite flower? We are presently planning a new addition to our garden and I am looking for suggestions.

Happy day to you! love, Laura

P.S. I am SO incredibly grateful to Juli Mancini for the wonderful article she wrote about me! I am still blushing!

  1. Great article Laura – good to see you getting the recognition you so deserve.
    Lovin those new paintings too!
Favorite flower – so hard to choose, I love them all but I guess I stick with my usual choice of Cosmos.
They have such a delicate beauty but at the same time are strong enough to last well into the fall frost.

  2. Thanks Kathy! I love cosmos too! You are right, it is hard to choose! xoLaura
