These are a few new pieces I just finished. They will make their “debut” The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly (RI) http://www.westerlyarts.com/thismonth.html. The show runs from June 25-July 25 and opens on July 1st from 5pm-8pm. It is a part of the Westerly/Pawcatuck Art Stroll, which is a lovely night held on the first Wednesday of each month where the downtown galleries and studios are open to the public. Many of the downtown shops also stay open for the night and feature the artwork of many of ACGOW’s members on a rotating basis. It is a great opportunity to a wider range of our members work. It would be fun if you were here to go with me. I am putting it “out there” that someday we will have a show together, so note the date!
The artwork below reflects my ongoing inquiry of what lies above and below the surface of our lives. I was experimenting with layering to create subtle textures in the bottom two pieces, thinking about how multi-layered we all are. There is so much that is seen and unseen in each of us with our individual, busy lives. I see the ocean as a metaphor for this.
