The Collective: Tina’s Peace

The last three additions to “The Collective”

Dear Laura,

Your last artwork and written letter added to the collective was a great continuation of our themes from the past few years. Since you mentioned mandala in your last letter, I looked up the meaning and discovered there is a lot there to dig into. Mainly, it represents the universe and one’s search for completeness. You and I have both been on a journey to explore the connections we feel to the greater universe while making art, time in nature, or with friends and family. This essential piece, I believe, is one of the main reasons we still enjoy our friendship today.

I have gone back to some books by Thich Nhat Hanh, much like you did with Eckhart Tolle. I did a search on our website and found a few entries we wrote about him from 2012! Those blog posts are really rudimentary so if you feel like a walk down memory lane, type his name in the search bar on the right. Not gonna brag about those posts. Anyway, I am so glad I went back to his teachings. They are really resonating with me this summer as I take time to care for myself and dig deep into my creative work. Specifically, I am reading Peace Is Every Step and Your True Home. These are great companions to meditation practice.

As I created my drawing for The Collective, I was thinking of the cyclical nature to life, ideas, and people. This feather drawing, wrapped in a circle, represents that. The golden circle at the bottom connects to our recent imagery in The Collective and shows the tension of energy that connects us all. Looking forward to seeing the next piece you create!

Tina

PS: This small format we have been working on has been fun! This drawing is only 4″x4″.

Peace is every step.

The shining red sun is my heart.

Each flower smiles with me.

How green, how fresh all that grows.

How cool the wind blows.

Peace is every step.

It turns the endless path to joy.

~Thich Nhat Hanh
