I really appreciated the collage of pictures you made of the simple beauty around you. It was fun to get a little sneak peek into your world and see things through your eyes. I have been thinking and writing a lot about the concept of beauty we are currently exploring in our work. What always lights me up is the beauty I see in the human spirit.
I went to NH for a whirlwind weekend with friends and family. My brother-in-law, Paul threw an amazing surprise party for my sister Kathy. This was no easy feat let me tell you! I can’t remember my sister EVER being surprised! There was something magical about the evening that inspired me. It went beyond the fireworks (yes, there were fireworks), my favorite Frederick’s Pastry white pound cake, cocktails, decorations and the exceptional attention to detail. There was a delightful unified energy of hope & happiness that filled the air, everyone wanting to create a memorable evening for my sister filled me with such warmth.
I found myself tearing up over the slide show Paul created. He had everyone pulling out old photo albums and memorabilia I am sure they hadn’t looked at in a very long time. I think it made everyone feel a part of the occasion. There was such joy & beauty in the way everyone came together. The work we do together elevates me in much the same way. I feel like I am a part of something greater than myself. You inspire me by the dedication you have to your studio practice, our collaboration, the way you honor your family, your fierce spirit, drive and dedication to the roller derby and teaching as well as the many other projects you continuously juggle. I am looking forward to seeing how this synergy translates into the ecourse we are writing, our new shop & upcoming show at Studio M in May. So much going on my head is spinning! Thank you for reminding me to slow down and appreciate the simple beauty around me.
p.s. I will be a guest blogger this Wednesday for Robin Norgren’s “Savor your Life” series! SO thrilled! You may remember her from her book, Spark & Inspire she had me contribute to with all those amazing women? I feel honored to be a part of such goodness.
