Laura and I are taking some time to reflect on the year together and all that we have accomplished as “Laura Two Tina” in 2009. We have been engaged in numerous projects in 2009 such as our altered book project sent through the United States Postal Service (noted on the tab above), weekly correspondence project Vision/ReVision, and developing this blog as shared authors.
Today we want to write a special post to celebrate a new beginning of our creative practice together. Our first “studio collaboration” was in October 2009 when Laura traveled to Charleston South Carolina to visit Tina. Please click on “studio collaboration” in our category list to read about the artwork as a response to a poem by Rumi and our process as collaborative partners. It was a process of joyfulness, mindfulness of each present moment together as artists, laughter, decisions, learning, teaching, conversation, negotiations, and creativity. We feel strongly that this project is getting at the “meat” of our creative work together and will be exploring and expanding on this in 2010.
The photos above and below highlight this collaborative art we have on view (and for sale), titled “Two: The Waterwheel” at Plum Elements Gallery in Charleston SC until January 9th, 2010. Please note that these photos do not represent the 3-D nature of the work. Each piece has a different height creating an undulating feel as all twelve pieces interact with one another. That said, these pictures are an excellent representation of the imagery.
Our next studio collaboration will be January 14-18 in Connecticut at Laura’s studio.
As Laura and I celebrate and honor our work accomplished in 2009, we wish to extend a heartfelt wish for a happy new year to you all!
