Fill An Empty Jar

Screen shot 2013-01-02 at 10.25.01 AMDear Friends,

Rather than a New Year’s Resolution (or maybe in conjunction with it) why not start the year with an empty jar and fill it with notes, photos, tickets, or anything that will help you remember what you experienced. Then next New Year’s Eve read through all your notes to see what amazing things happened in 2013.

Laura and I are starting ours today!

  1. Happy, Healthy, Creative and Prosperous New Year to you Tina and Laura!
Great idea about the jar. Steve and I have been doing a similar thing for decades now. I make note in my desktop calendar of fun things we do, big things (to us) we purchase, dates with friends, etc and at the end of the year (actually the beginning of the next) record dates and events / stuff in our Year-End Journal. It’s fun to reflect and we have almost our entire life together recorded of important things to us. It’s resolved many a debate on what year we vacationed where or when did we buy that table we love so much! Then we both sit and ruminate and write our thoughts about the past year. We don’t have anyone to leave it to when we’re gone from this planet, but we do it because we relish the gift of togetherness we’ve been blessed with and it’s a way to savor it for when we’re so old we can’t remember at all, if we’re fortunate to get that far!
    Be well … Carol

  2. This is such a fantastic idea Carol! We forget so much don’t we? To mark time in some sort of ritual way not only reminds us of all the wonderful things we have experienced but also reaffirms a life well-lived with others. You are lucky you have a wonderful partner to share this with. I give thanks every day for my family.
    Happy New Year~ Tina

  3. Love this idea Tina. I’ve got a mason jar with a few bits of paper in it already. It will be really fun to go back and read through at the end of the year. A jar full of memories.
Happy New Year! A little late but it’s still January, at least for another 55 minutes : )
